The environs of Hauz Khas Village is named by the famous lake of the same name replete with medieval history of the thirteenth century, during the reign of the Sultanate of Delhi. It was then part of Siri the second city of medieval India of the Sultanate of Allauddin Khilji dynasty (from 1296 to 1316 AD ). The large water tank was built by Khilji during the reign of Firoz Shah Tughlaq (1351-1388). Several buildings (the mosque and madrasa) and the tombs were built overlooking the lake.

This area has verdant forests, gardens and much needed greenery in the heart of New Delhi, some amazing birdlife, docile dee, an Islamic seminary, a mosque, Ferozshah Tughlak's tomb among several other pre Mughal tombs & pavilions.

The Urban Village is very chic and "happening" built around a green lung of New Delhi. Indeed quite unique for a locality of a resurgent and increasingly modern National Capital Region.

In the 1980s, Hauz Khas Village was developed as a high end area for young designers, artists and also trinket and antique sellers in a bohemian setting and today Delhi latest Food Street is definately one of the most charming areas of South Delhi, India. Thanks to the fading fad of "Mall Culture!!" Hauz Khas village is making a remarkable comeback.

There are 14 restaurants (and still counting!) in this "wonder mile" (actually only 250 metres x 50 metres ) . Amazing density of fun hangout places in such a small stretch of New Delhi and a few travel companies such as us who are pleased to attend to your queries or while you are here.
