Ladakh Sarai
Location: The Ladakh Sarai, situated in a beautiful grove of willow, poplar, apricot and apple trees, is just ten minutes from Leh, with its fascinating labyrinth of winding streets and quaint bazaars. The beautiful and tranquil location of the Ladakh Sarai, with the Indus River flowing below, faces the majestic Stok Kangri Mountain (6150 meters) and offers an incredible panoramic view of the Zanskar range.

The spacious canvas and bamboo yurts have been specially fabricated by hand and retain the essential characteristics of the original Central Asian and Mongolian "Akois" on which they are modeled. Furnished in soft pastels, each yurt has comfortable twin beds, a cozy sitting area and an individual attached bathroom with solar heating.

The rendezvous for meals and gatherings is an attractive hexagonal building, designed after traditional Ladakhi architecture, with a lounge and dining room, complete with a Buddhist chapel. Subtle electric lighting, supplemented by kerosene lamps, provides the Evening illumination.

The Ladakh Sarai serves as an ideal base for treks and jeep safaris throughout the Western Himalayan Mountain region

ARRIVAL BY ROAD: Your vehicle will take you up a gradual climb to the village of Ayu. You will be welcomed with a cup of tea, coffee or a cold drinks and a short informal talk on the Ladakh Sarai, while your bags are being unloaded and placed in your yurt.

ARRIVAL BY AIR: After the spectacular flight over the mountains and the breathtaking landing at Leh airport, you will be met outside the Arrivals Lounge by our staff. The drive to the Ladakh Sarai takes about 10 minutes.

CLIMATE AND CLOTHING: The Ladakh Sarai is open from May to October. Bookings in late April and late October are accepted subject to weather conditions.
